The Red Bridge of Surabaya





 
Historically, The Red Bridge is formed above agreement Pakubowono II of Mataram by VOC since 11 November 1743. Although of Surabaya controlled entirely by the Netherlands, The Red Bridge can be used as a means of connecting of Surabaya Kalimas and Residency Building a very vital. In this place also, Brigadier Mallaby (head of the British armed forces) were killed.

Some Dutch heritage buildings are still visible in the south of Red Bridge. Today these buildings change function as a tabloid newspaper office in of Surabaya, the post office and Pelni. In the vicinity of the bridge there are also economic centers, such as The Red Bridge Plaza and also the commercial center will be retained.

In the 1890s The Red Bridge underwent a significant change. Whether it be a metal timber boundary fence and associated areas are Jalan Rajawali and Kembang Jepun Street on the north side of Surabaya.
